Oh my goodness, I loved this story! It took me on an emotional journey that I didn't want to end. The relationship that develops between Colonel Blackwell and the captured enemy soldier is filled with mystery, tension, and unexpected depth as long-buried secrets slowly come to light. The story was engaging from beginning to end, but it really came alive in the final stretch. What an ending! This is one of those books that stayed with me long after I finished it.
