About this listen
When the mysterious Order comes to Mike Radley's home begging for his help, he doesn't know what to expect.
He didn't expect a trip to Maui where he would butt heads with merfolk nobility.
He really didn't expect a confrontation with the Captain, a man with a magical boat and mysterious goals.
And he definitely didn't expect to get caught in a war between the living and the dead.
Will Mike Radley sink the Captain's plans? Or will he drown in misery, instead?
Welina mai i Hawaiʻi. Expect the Unexpected.

The stakes have never been higher for Mike and the family with what happens in this book. A trip to Maui to help solve a problem for the "Order" and the local Mermaids turns into a chaotic mess of planned events from multiple 3rd parties that left me on the edge of my seat.
The new characters of Leilani and Ingrid took a while to get used too but in the end I feel they are a good edition to the story going forward and i'm keen to see more from them (they seem like reliable future allies)
Hawthorne has consistently given us quality writing with this series and this one is the very embodiment of her dedication to her craft. This one has everything, spice, comedy, plot twists and drama, lots and lots of drama. The overall world-building and plot of the series progressed well in this one.
The ending was a little bittersweet but did bring closure for fans of Annebelle's spinoff series.
As for the cliffhanger........Mike.......buckle up dude, the Fae ain't quite done with you yet.
I already need book 8 and will get it the MOMENT it drops.
The best one so far!

New monsters, new lore, new friends, new enemies and new players
Loving the build up of the world and a glimpse of the greater game
With all that is new, we still have plenty of quality time with the Radley family. Tho like all the previous books, the family is too big for them all to get some serious page time, but that's OK, i wouldn't want the story to be diluted, and as long as we keep getting more books so we can swing back round to the members of the family that haven't been main characters for a while I'm happy.
The inclusion of story lines from the dangerous allies series (that should title wise be included with the Radley House series) I adore, but could be confusing or lack the emotional punch they deserve if not read
I laughed at the stupid dad jokes, cackled inappropriately when Jenny was let out to play, sighed at the more egregious puns, and cried when Cecilia sung her song at the end
Oh and the super happy sexy fun times were very enjoyable
Lily: Fuck you for making me feel this way
