I wasn't expecting to get so hooked but I finished this book in just a few days. The suspense kept me on edge and the way the story unfolded was totally unpredictable. It was just the right amount of mystery and intensity to keep you guessing until the end. I found myself thinking about the plot. Even when I wasn't reading and that's even when I knew I couldn't put it down. Definitely worth checking it out if you love a good thrill.

"Two Shades of Darkness" by Anastasia Lenoir is an intense listen. Rowan Marlowe's narration caught me off guard at first, since her voice sounded kind and pleasant during the intro. However, her skills allow her to cover a wide range, and this book pulls the listener through a ton of dark themes, like desire, power, and control. The whole package comes together with a great storyline and well-written characters.

Lenoir expresses the developing "relationship" between Ellory and Dean with raw language. The writing focuses on the psychological, and I think a lot of people will find that it resonates, maybe in a way that makes them a little uncomfortable (in a good way, if that makes any sense). This is a provocative dark romance, with the emphasis on dark. But there's great chemistry here.

There is a lot of explicit content, and the illustrations (delivered by PDF) complement the writing very well. I like how everything is balanced - this isn't smut or porn, but it's very sexual. I think the depth of the character building is what makes it work, and Lenoir does a fantastic job. This is a book that uses intense emotions, powerful eroticism, and great characters to push the lines of taboo. Loved it. Mature audiences will love it, too.
