About this listen

The first year of college is supposed to be the best time of your life, right?

Partying, discovering yourself, getting your heart broken… all that bullcrap.

My cousin once told me I had a talent for attracting trouble. And screw me sideways, he was right.

Instead of discovering myself, I discovered something much worse.

I suck at college.

Oh, and I am in love with my rival and former best friend’s boyfriend.

I wish I could say that’s the extent of it. But drama and trouble find me everywhere I go.

Not only was he my rival and enemy’s boyfriend. He was my stepbrother.

And now he wants to play a winner takes all game with me.

The problem is I never back down from a challenge. And I was feeling confident too… until my stepbrother’s estranged twin brothers that I had never met before entered the game.

Vicious Games is a reverse harem taboo romance—meaning the main female character will have more than one love interest, and yes—it's downright dirty and taboo. It contains adult themes, course language and is solely intended for mature audiences over 18. Vicious Games is book 1 in The Lies We Keep series.

The audiobook has by far exceeded the story of this book. The narrators have done such an amazing job, not only to say that some of my favorite voices are in this amazing cast! Michelle Sparks is the voice of Rylee and she did such an incredible job with such a spoiled brat that thinks she is a victim in everything she does and blames everyone around her. Asher played by Joe Arden, of course this man can read me the phone book and I’d love it, but Asher will have to redeem himself. Blake is the most real, blunt, and accurate character. He will call anyone out on their BS and no one can voice him better than Anthony Palmini. I can’t wait to hear and see more of him in the next book as I think he will be my most favorite character of this series.

The story itself was quite predictable and I just didn't like the main character

Great narrators!

I enjoyed this book when I first read it on KU almost three years ago, but hearing it brought to life in audiobook made it a whole new experience that I absolutely loved!

This book is interesting in the fact we only get Rylee's POV (yes, even though it is a multi-cast narration), which means there is so much more going on in the wider world that we would love to be privy to. It puts emphasis on the secrets between the characters being just that - as Rylee learns them, so do we, which adds to the twists and surprises as they come to light.

I love that we start with a hint of the taboo with Asher, Rylee's stepbrother, but then evolves into so much more as the plot develops. There's a love-hate relationship with Asher, both as a listener and for Rylee, but the plot - and the narrators - leave you wanting more, especially when you add Blake and Zayn into the picture, and the presence of Chuck, too. Macca has written book one in a way that you can't wait to find out what happens in the rest of the series, as there are so many unanswered questions by the end.

Sparks as Rylee, Arden as Asher, Masters as Zayn, Palmini as Blake and Shedlock as Chuck are exceptional performers, putting their all into bringing these characters to life. As always with Blue Nose (and with Macca's books thus far), the casting has been exceptional, and the presence of the multi-cast really brings the single POV narrative to life! Each performer embodies their character, and you can hear them enunciate each emotion to perfection - I honestly cannot wait for the rest of this series to hit my ears!
