Yes, this is exactly the kind of listen I love. Morally grey, even cringing at times, I was hooked on the story and loved every minute. Kade is obsessed with Sage. She has always been off limits, their families' are not exactly friends. But that doesn't stop him from coming to her aid when her boyfriend laid a hand on her. Willing to do anything for her, he keeps popping up at the most opportune times. The chemistry off the charts, these two are meant to be, his brothers and grandmother there for her and John Cena moments kept the suspense high and exciting. I could not get enough, listening straight through just to hear what would happen next. This is a fantastic start to the series and I cannot wait to hear the next in the series.

Making the story even better is the combination of Ryan Lee Dunlap and Harlow Wilde narrating it! These two delve into their characters head first, find the sound and keep the heightened feelings moving through the entire story. They are fabulous together and made this listen amazing.

Harlow and Ryan did such an incredible job with this story! And y’all, although the trigger warning menu is one of the funniest and most well delivered I’ve ever heard, take it seriously as there are some dark moments in this book!

As a country girl born and raised in the South, I grew up hearing the classic “country daddy” warning of how much land he owns, and how your body will never be found if you hurt his daughter. This story takes that sentiment and puts it fully to the test. This was a dark one. And yes, comical in the darkest way possible. My sense of humor definitely leans that direction, so I won’t lie. I found myself laughing at moments I probably shouldn’t have. There’s something oddly satisfying about a predator meeting a wood chipper and ending up as compost. 🤷‍♀️ That said- heed the trigger warnings. They are absolutely not exaggerating. I don’t usually have triggers, but there were moments where I genuinely thought, “Do I need to call a therapist for a consult?” This book goes hard.

You’ll find: A very strong alpha “touch her and die” vibe; graphic and brutal deaths; abuse, (including toward animals); and
truly sick individuals getting exactly what they deserve But if you’re sensitive to any of those elements, this may not be the book for you. Even knowing the bad guys get what’s coming to them doesn’t make some scenes easy to digest. All that said, as a dark romance, this book absolutely delivered. I especially loved the duet-style narration. It adds so much realism and emotional depth when done well, and it worked perfectly here.

Dark, disturbing, intense… and strangely compelling. Proceed with caution, but if this is your lane, buckle up.

Please, please, please check all trigger warnings because, while this qualifies as dark humor, it gets HEAVY!! Having said that, if you can read this, I highly recommend doing so. This is a great introduction to a family of brothers who run their ranch, and Sage, the daughter of their rival neighboring rancher. Cade is about as unhinged as they come, in all the best alpha protective ways. Sage has her hands full with the worst kind of men and when they come together their chemistry is explosive.

Ryan Lee Dunlap is perfection with any type of southern accent and he really shines in this one. Harlow Wilde was new to me and her acting was phenomenal. She gave such a passionate performance I felt every emotion come through. Add in the duet style production and this is not to be missed!
