As a high school student, I was very intrigued by Homer’s work, the Iliad and the Odyssey. These stories have been around for over 2,000 years and are still around and important because they are such good stories. I love important literature works like this, and I’m always disappointed that the school systems these days do not push these classical works of literature toward our kids. What I really like about this book is it breaks this Classical piece into small sections so that our kids, as young as 10 and 12 years old, can read these in small pieces at a time, and we, as parents, can read with them. The neat thing about the way that Joy Chester laid these out is that you can read these as stand-alone short books; they do not have to go in order. I also like the fact that these are written to be children friendly (avoiding some profanity seen in normal Greek tragedies).

Although this book was written for kids, I have enjoyed it because I’m into Greek mythology. It's sophisticated with no violent language like most Greek mythology books have. These fascinating stories reintroduced me to the famous characters of ancient Greek mythology. The short stories were telling the main roles from the Iliad and the Odyssey. It is a great book to get start before reading Homer's famous works. Highly recommend!!!

The stories were well written and the voice of the reader, I could listen to all day long. I like that they are very short stories. I could listen to one or a bunch depending on the time I had. It was a perfect fit for me.

I read the Iliad a while back, and it was so difficult to get into. This book though? An easy and entertaining ride into the world of Greek mythology. The names still got my head swimming, but I love how easy it was to follow through the events and how the simple language made it all the more entertaining.
