Summary

This is a collection of really funny short stories in easy Italian, with some slang and some light cursing to reflect the real way Italians speak. (Italians curse much more than Americans.) This book can be used by English native speakers to improve their Italian and gain fluency by having fun with the funny story.

The best way to learn is to listen to the translated story in English and in Italian, then listen to the vocabulary and slang explanation. When you feel confident enough, just listen to the audiobook in your target language. By repeating this process with all the stories in this book, your fluency will improve consistently. If you need assistance with grammar, look into our website www.languagesinatlanta.com or contact us.

I find short stories a great way to learn Italian but have struggled in the past to find any that don't put me to sleep. These stories are great, more like a collection of funny anecdotes that a friend might tell, rather than typical short stories. They are full of colourful characters, dodgy encounters and awkward moments, the sort of tales you would tell over a drink. My favourite was the story about the priest, it made me laugh out loud.

There is plenty of slang and a bit of swearing and, like it or not, these are essential parts of any language, and very difficult to find learning resources for. Many thanks to the author for including these. The narrator speaks slowly enough that you will have time to process what's being said, and new grammar is introduced throughout the chapters without going into too much explanation. If you are an intermediate learner you'll be able to keep up while learning some new phrases every chapter.

I hope there are more stories to come from this author as this is one of the best Italian learning resources I have found.

Finally, stories that are fun to listen to!
