About this listen

SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE PRODUCED BY LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is the beloved cult classic about family, friendship and first love, from award-winning author Benjamin Alire Sáenz. This lyrical novel will enrapture readers of John Green, Love, Simon and Call Me by Your Name.

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison.

Dante is a know-it-all who has a unique perspective on life.

When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they develop a special friendship – the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about the universe, themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

This incredibly moving and powerful Printz Honor Book follows two teen boys learning to open themselves up to love, despite the world being against them.

There's a lot of what feels like padding in this story as you read it, but push through it, because it's not padding, it's necessary cushioning that is going to protect you as you bump and crash your way through this emotional rollercoaster of a book.

If You Don't Like A Good Cry, Don't Read This Book

This was such a well-written story, and the way the minds of a 15-17-year-old Ari is captured was beyond anything I could have hoped. And by the end... I cried

As a mature person I was totally absorbed by the wonderful writing, I felt part of the story and travelled with Aristotle and Dante as their friendship grew into something stronger. A must read again book. Thanks to Benjamin Alire Saenz.

A master class in literature at it's best:

Absolutely and completely beautiful. A poetically written and heartfelt book. One of my favourites that I have listened to so far.

The beauty of the writing.

You know it's a good book when you can't stop thinking about getting to know those people and becoming part of their world.

Smiling and crying simultaneously.
