Summary

Terrifying, harrowing, eye-opening, and sometimes hilarious, are the stories that Mo documented on his 20-year journey through the highest security prisons in the UK.
From boiling-water attacks to dirty protests, and from riots to suicides, Mo saw it all.

After getting sentenced to life for a murder conspiracy, Mo had to adapt to living with extremely dangerous high-profile inmates, including members of the IRA, serial killers, and London gangsters, including Charles Bronson and The Krays.

In this inspirational memoir, one of the best descriptions of UK prison life, Mo expertly tells jaw-dropping stories and brings to life the eccentric characters from a hidden world.

Critic reviews

“A masterpiece of prison literature. Mo is a remarkable man to have endured his time inside and transformed his life.” (Shaun Attwood, true crime author/YouTuber)

This is surprisingly well written and I particularly enjoyed the chapters about the author's childhood and descriptions of village life in Kashmir. The storyline grips you from the start, which makes up for the rather wooden narration, but thankfully this improves.

It was interesting to learn about life on the inside as a category A prisoner from a firsthand perspective, and how the system changed over time.

I might read the hard copy too.

Highly recommend.

Fascinating on many levels

This book is a tough listen. was hoping it would get better but by chapter 9 I gave up. Kidnaps and kills an Indian diplomat then complains about having to spend time in prison. Total waste of £8.

AVOID!!
