About this listen

When the luxury cruiser, hastily renamed Great Britain, berths in Kinloch harbour, the pressure is on DCI Jim Daley. The UK Government are taking a high-powered group of businessmen and women on a tour of the British isles, golfing and seeing the sights, as part of a push for global trade. But when one of the crew goes missing, and an elderly local ornithologist disappears, will the pressure become too great?

The arrival of a face from the past sends Daley’s world into a tailspin. And the lives of the passengers and crew of SS Great Britain, as well as the country’s economic future are in jeopardy. DS Brian Scott comes to the fore, and replete with a temporary promotion, is once more - most reluctantly, in his case - back at sea.

Daley faces a life and death struggle, but is this his last throw of the dice?

The wait was well worth it! Twists and turns all the way through - I didn't guess who the 'baddie' was. David Monteath's narration is terrific - I get the book as well as the audio version, but love the audio best, hearing Brian's rants about things, and he and Ella in this book are terrific. No spoilers, but my first reaction when the book ended was 'nooo'. Shock. Dare I ask if there's another book?

Wow!

Fantastic as always! This time Brian Scott is in the driving seat, in charge of the investigation as Acting DI while Jim Daley is recovering from heart problems. His wife, Liz, is back causing trouble as always. I really detest that woman. But that's the mark of a good writer when he/she causes such strong emotions in the readers.

All the characters are so well drawn that I feel as though I actually know them. Kinloch may be fictional but I feel I know every place and person in it. How I'd love to visit the County Hotel and have a drink with the locals.

Oh and that ending!!!

Can't wait to read the next in the series.

Wonderful as always

too much padding ..weak ending ...struggled ..
naval personnel unconvincing ...the female characters made out to be rather pathetic ....unexciting
