If you are a history buff then this is a great book for you as it weaves and winds you through the many early struggles that these three countries went through and how each one had its fair share of trials and tribulations to seek independence, world power, and prosperity for their people. Some of this I learned in history classes at school but there is a lot more that I didn’t know that is covered in this brief history book. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about the rich history behind these three nations.

The audiobook starts with American history and offers a compelling look into the nation’s formative years. Capturing the early tensions with Britain, the trauma of the Civil War, and the anxiety of the Cold War era. Particularly poignant is the exploration of regional differences within the country, which have often been glossed over in other works.

Canada’s history is a rich tapestry, celebrating its indigenous cultures and detailing its complex relationship with European powers. The account of Canada’s journey from a British dominion to its own sovereign state is narrated with nuance and a sense of excitement.

England’s story, as presented here, is a journey through time—touching upon its ancient influences and diving deep into transformative events such as the Norman Conquest and the War of the Roses. These events are deftly connected, revealing how historical momentum builds upon each successive era.

The writing is crisp, devoid of the fluff that often permeates historical accounts. The prose is immersive, making historical figures and events come alive, transporting listeners back in time.

The narration is good, but it comes across as a news anchor and can sometimes be abrupt. Otherwise, this is an excellent concise history of three great nations.
