This brilliantly narrated, dual timeline, historic novel was riveting from beginning to end.

Interesting story over two time periods. Characters were well rounded and very interesting, however Clara was a bit of a wet blanket at times,

I found the narrator really difficult to listen to, as her accents were comically awful.

Dual time line historical fiction

This had the potential to be a 4-star read but the audiobook let it down sadly. The narrator was fine with the American voices but had clearly never heard Welsh and northern English accents.
I enjoyed the dual timeline story and thought it came together well at the end.

Im really enjoying the stories by this writer. This is my second. I found the ending a bit uncohesive.
I enjoyed the readers voice for most of it but her English accents are terrible. The welsh accent was a mix of London/Northern/something non-descript. For a book with a heavy presence of a welsh character, this could have had a bit more attention to detail when choosing a reader.

I couldn't finish this because of the narration - an overacted, almost hysterical high pitched voice. It's like listening to someone whine and whine.
