About this listen

Savid DelaCrotia, leader of Princess Brona’s Shadows, finds himself facing multiple threats to the Kingdom of Montshire. The return of his horrifically changed friend and battle buddy, Ash Newberry, is almost the least of his worries as a traitor is revealed close to home just as a conspiracy on Montshire’s valuable coastline leads him far from Haven. Once again Savid finds himself a vulnerable game piece in the deadly politics of the king’s court at the worst possible time. Only with the support of his skilled and deadly team can he hope to survive long enough to protect his Princess and her kingdom from threats both far away and near at hand. But Monsthire’s many enemies would do well to remember that shadows abound in both the brightest of light and the darkest night.

Expectation met! a great continuation from the first book, it's short but sweet. I waited almost a year for this and it's over in a flash, good story and character depth, hooked me from the first minute until the last. Looking forward to the next book, hope it's longer. JC and JPC...perfect combinations.

As expected!

This book delivered a good story. There was plenty of back story to fill in missing elements from book one. It made me want to hear more but John Conroe has lots to create on Demon Accords and Expansion. Quite exciting action, something always delivered in John Conroe books.

The Princess and King are interesting characters as they have little empathy for their people. I presume they have some genetic pre-disposition to mental breakdown as there are several references to their family problem. This is a damaged and punished world so we can expect the humans to be changed as well for good and bad. However the Princess has learned behaviour to mask and appears to understand duty. It’s a puzzle to know if Savid will survive her intense focus on him.

I like the Shadows. Witty, loyal, fit, wily and clever. These are true heroes.

Listening to the book it feels as though Mr Conroe has fully envisioned this world now. Including the food. The descriptions of meals make me quite hungry.

A really good story I’m glad I picked it
