About this listen

In a slow-burn mafia romance from New York Times bestselling author Tijan, a dangerous psychopath—and deadly crime boss—drops his defenses for the one girl he’s vowed to protect.

Creighton was a dangerous crime boss with a growing empire. And he’s a psychopath.

He’s also obsessed with Blake.

She wanted a normal life. That meant new friends and a life without Creighton.

Except when Blake moves to New York for her senior year of college, Creighton follows because he knows that danger is close behind. He has always protected Blake, and he always will protect her, even if Blake hates how ruthless Creighton has become for her.

However, once they’re in New York, the dynamics between the two begin to change. Tensions heat up, and soon their chemistry is sizzling beyond what Blake can handle.

That means that their usual back-and-forth has to change, with new rules and a new agreement.

Perhaps this negotiation could be for their happily ever after?

They’ll just need to survive each other first…

This was a wonderful surprise. As a reader who is not necessarily a mafia fan, I thoroughly enjoyed Creighton and Blake's world.

I enjoyed the dynamic of the foster siblings who always had each others' backs and the lengths that Creighton would go to to ensure Blake's safety.

I think I've decided that I quite like a bad boy and how he might/is redeemed, at least slightly, by the love of his life.

I'll certainly be exploring other titles in this series.

A pleasant surprise

Absolutely loved it, Tijan has never had a character like this before not sure if I like Creighton or not. Love all the other main characters including Blake. Blake has a past like no other and has come out with a positive attitude. Wanting to keep her friends and family safe.

I really liked this audiobook. It was one of Tijans' better casted ones, imo. Creighton was so well acted.👏

I'll start out by saying, although this was my least favourite out of this series, it was still a good read.🫶

I found this couple the hardest to connect to. But I enjoyed their back and forth and compromises. I felt bad for Blake, feeling all of that guilt for Creightons actions - because everything he does is to protect her.👀🤦🏻‍♀️ They're in love.❤️

I wasn't very impressed with our original King's in this book. Especially Ash, so reckless!🙄💥

I really loved Blake's new friends. And I really appreciated how the book was wrapped up.😍

I do think this world is at an end for me, personally, and this story felt full circle enough to be the perfect ending to the series.👏😍💥
