Whatever walks there, no longer walks alone . . .

Playwright Holly Sherwin is close to her big break. Having received a grant to develop her new play, all she needs is time and space to bring her vision to life. Then on a weekend away, she stumbles upon Hill House - an ornate if crumbling gothic mansion, near-hidden outside a small town.

Soon Holly's troupe of actors - each with ghosts of their own - arrive at Hill House for a creative retreat. But before long they find themselves at odds not just with one another, but with the house itself.

For something has been waiting patiently in Hill House all these years.
Something no longer content to walk alone.

Not bad, they weird sounds in the background are a bit off putting and would definitely say it’s not a scary story but wasn’t terrible if you are looking for something easy to pass the time with.

Not scary, but an okay listen

Was a bit sceptical that this wouldn't hold true to Shirley Jackson's Hill House. However I am impressed with this. The author has captured the darkness wonderfully..

Excellent

A truly excellent, spellbinding sequel to Shirley Jackson’s iconic original story. Hill House still watches and waits.

No better woman than Liz Hand to pen an official sequel of sorts to The Haunting Of Hill House. A laywright rents the hellish abode for a few weeks to work with her partner, her friend and an aging actress to workshop her new play. Stuff starts to happen, and the group finds itself both disturbed by the place but also energised by the work they're doing and elect to stay on, precipitating a tragic climax.

Atmospheric, spooky, well-written, great characterisation and full of nods to the original.

I loved the original & thought this was an intriguing idea. The characters weren’t likeable or well-drawn enough for me to really care about them. There are some really lovely scary moments & images but what’s actually going on in the house is a bit disjointed & doesnt really all hang together well - like there’s a lot of different things going on when the action gets going but it all feels a bit messy. The performance was good.

Doesn’t quite deliver but some good scary moments!
