Summary

From the writer of Village Americana and Reviled comes a new trilogy of terror. Tied together by three hellish nights, the stories contained within span past, present and future.

Blake's Escape - In present day, a seemingly innocent bar meet up results in a mugging. But when the thieves choose their latest mark, they end up getting more than what they bargained for.

One Last Glimpse - Way back to the turn of the century comes a tale of a man down on his luck. With hardly any money to speak of, he spends his last few coins on a nickelodeon machine. But what he sees in the viewfinder will bring everything he knows into dangerously sharp clarity.

Voyage of Valhalla - Deep in space, in the distant future, a ship on a life-changing mission to bring back a cure to a sudden agricultural disease gets sidetracked when the crew gets flung to the other side of the universe. Light-years away from planet earth and with their food rations dwindling, a last ditch effort to board a space freighter may just sustain them...that is, if they can survive what is hiding in a room marked Bay Six.

Also includes a sneak peak of House of ILL Will, the new novel by Roberto Scarlato.

The author also narrates these short stories so has understanding and investment in rendering the text faithfully. The first tale is fantasy and supernatural based. The author in the afterwords to the text says he wanted the main character's nature to be a surprise, but I rumbled it early on. I think this is the weakest of the three. The second story is more science fiction based, set in America's past. It has an artefact changing the course of the main character's life. I didn't see the logic of including this as it wasn't a horror story in my opinion. The last story is set in space and the author reveals it came to him in a dream. The crew of the space ship are desperate for provisions and resources as their vessel has been put too far from Earth for them to survive the journey. Coming across a deserted, damaged spaceship gives them some hope, but comes with a dire warning about what's in Bay 6. Although I thought this was the best of the three, the twist was telegraphed to me very early on so suspense was lacking. It's possible to consume all these tales inone night, but I feel calling it a horror night is misleading.
