About this listen

Winner of the Romantic Novelists' Association.

Contemporary Romantic Novel Award, 2015.

As heart wrenching and life-affirming as One Day or Me Before You, A Hundred Pieces of Me is a story about what it means to finally live life to the full.

Letters from the only man she's ever truly loved. A keepsake of the father she never really knew. A blue glass vase that catches the light on a grey day.

Gina Bellamy is starting again, after a few years she'd rather forget. But the belongings she's treasured for so long don't seem to fit who she is now. So Gina makes a resolution. She'll keep just a hundred special items - the rest can go. But that means coming to terms with her past and learning to embrace the future, whatever it might bring....

What did you like best about A Hundred Pieces of Me? What did you like least?

This book had a really good premise and I enjoyed the story but I do think it dragged a little towards the end. I also found the main character's clinging to an obsession from a teenage years a little hard to believe in given all she had been through since and that it's easy these days to trace people from your past. However I wouldn't want that to put people off listening to this - there is a lot going on!

What does Juanita McMahon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I really enjoy Juanita McMahon's narration and would probably download a book based on this - she is very good at voices which helps you imagine the characters.

Did A Hundred Pieces of Me inspire you to do anything?

Embarrassingly yes! I had a good clear out of my wardrobe.

A lovely book - probably a tad long

I thought the concept of the story meant it was going to be a fascinating journey, but the ins and outs of each item, back in time, now present, and the memories went on for an age, and the fact that I had listened to all of it, because for all that I listened to, I was thinking it must have a satisfying ending, I was so disappointed, I cant say or it spoils it for the next person, who perhaps would enjoy it, but it left you wondering how it should of ended..........

Thank heavens it wasn't a thousand !!

Where does A Hundred Pieces of Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Great story by Lucy Dillon but I'm afraid the narration ruined it for me, this audiobook has a very low ranking as I couldn't even finish it.

Did Juanita McMahon do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Narration ruined it for me, wishing now that I'd bought the book to read instead of the audio, I still might, Gina's voice just didn't sound how I felt it should, the narrator made her come across as a complete sap, I had trouble listening to her for any length of time, I appreciate she was supposed to be at an extreme low in her life, but strong inspirational women do NOT sound like that in my head, she sounded more like Mavis from Coronation Street. I'm sorry - maybe it's just me, but I definitely won't be buying another audio book narrated by Juanita McMahon.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

Ultimately disappointing.

Wish I'd bought the book !!

What a lovely listen! Follows the life of Gina going back through her past and the mistakes and tribulations of her life. Definitely a heart warming story that had me chuckling at some points and feeling a bit sorry at others. Does make you stop and think about your own life a little.

I can't help but feel the ending was too soon though - I won't give anything away but if you do decide to listen to this book hopefully you will know what I mean.

Pleased I bought this listen, definitely one of the best 'chick flicks' I have listened to with great narration.

Lovely heart warming story
