I enjoyed listening to this very much. Performance is very good, & refreshing to hear the story narrated in an Indian accent. With one exception, for which I can’t give 5 stars - the Scottish character’s voice is up there with Dick Van Dyke’s cockney. (Be warned Scottish folk, but don’t let this put you off.)

I love this novel. There is some beautiful prose. The story makes important social and political points, and addresses so many issues relating to the historical period that remain relevant today. The characters are complex and fascinating. Excellent. Recommended.

I have read this novel back as a student and revisiting it as a professor now and the narration stood out for me. Not because it was good but because of the racialised accent that was given to the Indian narrator. It was unnecessary and not natural.
