About this listen

The King is dead. Long live the King. And death to his enemies.

Bargained away to Dawn Court, Kat must play the part of a helpless human bewitched by the Day King. But beneath the veneer of submission, she's playing a far more dangerous game—spying for Dusk Court, and for the one person who holds her heart: Bastian.

Separated from the woman he loves, Bastian has no time to rage against fate—or his queen. With his city on the brink of collapse and war brewing, he must uncover the truth before a devastating betrayal shatters everything he's fought to protect.

As the enemy's hold on Kat tightens, secrets from the past threaten to unravel the courts' fragile alliance. Every step brings the couple closer to a deadly choice: risk everything for love—or lose it all to the lies that bind them.

With danger, desire, and dark secrets, A Promise of Lies is the epic conclusion to Shadows of the Tenebris Court, an addictive romantasy trilogy ideal for fans of morally grey shadow daddies and heroines who refuse to give up—even when death seems set to win.

Whats with robo-bastian? I was enjoying the story but as soon as you realise the upward cadence at the end of EVERY phrase or sentence it really takes away from the story, peak annoyance. Its bad enough that I will be actively avoiding any more by the same narrator. The story it's self is fine, a bit predictable in places and the middle was a bit of a slog but glad I persevered overall.

Blooming awful male narration

I love this series and enjoyed the first audiobook. The intro of the dual PoV wasn’t great for the second book as I didn’t love the male narrator and somehow for the third book his performance has regressed not improved? Super jarring and stilted which is such a shame as it’s a great story and the female narrator continues to put in a strong performance.

Romantasy but make it narrated by your TomTom

I had to DNF due to the male narrator, He was already unpleasant to listen to in the previous book but the last book was just really hard, so much so that I skipped all of the Bastian chapters.
I did enjoy the story and thought the female narrator’s voice was excellent. Will most likely pick this up as book as I do want to know how this concludes.

Had to skip Bastian Chapters

Perfect ending! I love this series! As a SA survivor I was a bit wary of the depictions but the PTSD depictions were good, I loved the main characters and the narrators, wasn’t sure about the male one at first but got used to him, I did listen on 1.75x so maybe that’s why I didn’t mind so much, I saw a lot of comments of people preferring the female narrator doing both parts which I would have been fine with too as she’s great! Loved the series!
