Summary

In this gritty and breathtaking conclusion to the Sorcery Ascendant Sequence, the award-winning fantasy series, a young sorcerer must learn to wield his extraordinary powers to defeat two warring empires.

In a battle of armies and sorcerers, empires will fall.

After young Caldan's parents were slain, a group of monks raised the boy and initiated him into the arcane mysteries of sorcery. But when the Mahruse Empire was attacked and the lives of his friends hung in the balance, he was forced to make a dangerous choice.

Now, as two mighty empires face off in a deadly game of supremacy, potent sorcery and creatures from legend have been unleashed. To turn the tide of war and prevent annihilation, Caldan must learn to harness his fearsome and forbidden magic. But as he grows into his powers, the young sorcerer realizes that not all the monsters are on the other side.

And though traps and pitfalls lie ahead, and countless lives are at stake, one thing is certain: To save his life, his friends, and his world, Caldan must risk all to defeat a sorcerer of immense power.

Failure will doom the world.

Success will doom Caldan.

Great ending to the trilogy although it only feels like I read 2 books! the story is fast paced and imaginative and you're not 100% sure how it will end which is always good!

Definitely recommend

The storyline and the characters in the 3 books are good. There is a one area that caused me to think it would be better- the characters are too polite and too nice. The main character apologises far too often, as do many of the characters- they need more balls and need to be rougher. When there is action it's good, but don't use a lot of violence followed by remorse. The narrator clearly used the words to decide on a tone, which he made clingy and whiny- it needed to be more guttural and rough.
The main character grew more balls as the books progressed and his use of tone should have followed- it didn't

I would still recommend the books as the storyline, previously mentioned, is good.

Good storyline but.

This series had its ups and downs.
The story was solid from start to finish. Very few plots did not have me enthralled.
The performance was good, nothing spectacular. Some voices were indistinguishable but most main characters were fine.
Overall a wonderful experience. If you enjoy the classic zero to hero tale then give this series a chance!

Solid read throughout

I liked the trilogy, it's not without its faults and I'd put that down to the editing, e.g. we had just had a major battle where everything but the kitchen sink was thrown in, sorcerers collapsing from the strain. then a chase and a few chasing sorcerers apply more sorcery than the land has ever seen before taking out a building! Our hero is weak then incredibly strong then weak then really incredibly strong then weak. I found that and a number of similar instances irritating, not a deal breaker as the overall story line was good. just disapointing as it could of been a great trilogy. it felt rushed as if too little time was left prior to it being published
overall if you are into fantasy it is worth the 3 credits

superb narrator and good conclusion to the trilogy
