Summary

Meet Tom. Or Dr O’Grady, as he used to be called. When you pass him on the street, most people don’t even give him a second glance. You see, Tom isn’t living his best life. Burdened by grief, he’s only got his loyal dog, Bette Davis, for company and a rucksack containing his whole world.

Then there’s Ruth and her son, DJ, who no longer have a place to call home. But Ruth believes that you can change the world by helping one person at a time - and Tom needs her help.

There are a thousand ways to find your home - you just need to be brave enough to look for them.

I’ve listened to many a book, but this goes to the top of my list. It was honest, compassionate, and very moving. Should be a book that all secondary school students should read, some might identify themselves with the characters, others will have their eyes opened to a world that is real and on their doorstep. Others like me will be grateful for the life we live, and thankful for this beautiful sensitive book. It is the only one that brought me to tears for the courage of the written word. Thank you

Incredible Book

This book was very well written, so much so you felt you were actually there with the characters. Very moving story which also ended very well (so many other books tend to rush the ending and tie up loose ends disappointingly following an enjoyable read).
I didn't agree with a previous readers review with regards to the male narrator, i thought he was very good and brought Tom to life, in fact both narrators were excellent and did justice to the characters.

Very well worth the purchase and without any realisation you are drawn to the plight of the characters with an understanding of life itself.
