Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.
Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.
After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.
The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows - and it's forbidden.
Contains mature themes.

I honestly feel this book was disappointing and not as I'd hoped. Is it only popular due to the amount of sex and sexual tension?
So-so.

I see a lot of comments about it being cringey and I really didn't get that at all. I know the main character is a trope type naive woman but the whole point is her overcoming that and the fact she never really was weak. She was made to be weak and the whole time had been letting people make her lower than. She develops into herself and you want it for her.
I loved the reimagined Greek gods and overall just found it enjoyable and silly and spicy.
This isn't a serious series. They made me laugh and smile and blush and just overall want the best for Persephone so thats a win from me.
Throughly enjoyable

For a FMC that starts off as a virgin who hasn't even been kissed, the book has SO MUCH smut in it my head was spinning. I'm all for a Hades and Persephone retelling, and I liked the modern day twist (even though the world itself wasn't really explored), but I found Persephone extremely aggravating until veeeeeery close to the end of the book. Perhaps this is on purpose, as she is still young and naïve and hasn't explored very much of the world (due to a controlling bitch of a mother), but I just couldn't get past this.
The saviour of this book was of course, Hades - dream man and all around fantastic character (when he asks Persephone to teach him how to bake I squealed, not ashamed to admit it). I continued on with the book for him, because he deserved it. I am going to read his POV now, because I believe it will be more palatable, and I love an MMC who is OBSESSED with his lady.
Unsure if I will continue just yet, but I do find myself intrigued to see where the story is going to go, so my curiosity might outweigh my uncertainty.
Smut with a hint of plot
