It was the ideal marriage of convenience...until they met.

Cassandra DeWitt has seen her husband only once - on their wedding day two years earlier - and this arrangement suits her perfectly. She has no interest in the rude, badly behaved man she married only to secure her inheritance. She certainly has no interest in his ban on her going to London. Why, he’ll never even know she is there.

Until he shows up in London too, and Cassandra finds herself sharing a house with the most infuriating man in England.

Joshua DeWitt has his life exactly how he wants it. He has no need of a wife disrupting everything, especially a wife intent on reforming his behavior. He certainly has no need of a wife who is intolerably amiable, insufferably reasonable...and irresistibly kissable.

As the unlikely couple team up to battle a malicious lawsuit and launch Cassandra’s wayward sister, passion flares between them. Soon the day must come for them to part...but what if one of them wants their marriage to become real?

Hilarious, heartrending, and hot, this standalone Regency romance tells the story of a marriage of convenience between opposites.

The story line was unique and well formulated. We could have done without the last tragedy tbh I feel like Joshua has been through enough
Surely some other event could have brought them together in the end but nonetheless, I really enjoyed this book. Definitely worth a listen.

Narration was amazing

On the face of it the story begins as many regency novels but there are twists and turns, humour and pathos aplenty. Very enjoyable narration too.

Not standard ton story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The main characters seem at first to be completely incompatible, both coping in their own way with tragedy and loss. With witty reparte, and courage they face adversity both from without and within. I found it thoroughly entertaining and uplifting. Though if you can't handle a few steamy scenes it's probably not for you. The narrator was excellent.

Heart-warming and entertaining

I have had this book in my audible library for sometime and I’m so glad I finally got around to listening to it. It’s quite simply one of the best historical romances I have ever read/ listened to. It’s beautifully narrated, with the female narrator able to perform a very credible male character too. I intend to seek out more books by this author. Highly recommended.
