About this listen

It's been more than 10 years since the war with the NeHaw ended in an uneasy truce. During that time, Jake Thomas has been relegated from battlefield commander and chief to the role of interstellar bureaucrat. To add to his frustrations, he is now father to a passel of teens and preteens, all with their father's propensity for getting into trouble. However, unexplained violations around the Human/NeHaw Neutral Zone and the mysterious disappearances of people in a remote backwater town in Arizona has everyone, Human and NeHaw alike, pointing fingers and threatening war. As things come to the boiling point, it becomes clear that a powerful third party has entered the game, and it may just require former enemies to unite to overcome their common threat.

expecting Mr Drummond? sorry narrator has changed result female adults sound like children, teenagers sound about 6 to 8 years. Fortunately part way in he drops the higher pitch adult female voice.
I have previous books so to me its not as good.
new to series? You will probably not mind.
Story itself is okay a bit of revisiting the back story which new listners may need.

good story but narrator change.

I couldn't get into the flow of the story with this narration. I even tried listening through the whole series again. Why didn't Mr David Drummond read this book? Its ruined the series for me. I couldn't even finish the book.

why has the narrator changed

What a disapointment, the storyline is great but the loss of Drummond as narrator wrecks it. The new narrator turns all the female charactors into whiney little girls, and the UK charactors into Mary Poppins chimney sweeps. Dreadful.
If you can stand that, then the story is worth listening to, it jumps 10 years from the previous book and introduces a new threat, Jake is still a bit "Kirk" like in that he insists on going into dangerous situations on his own, and of course still has his multiple non-wives giving him support and grief in equal measures.

Good continuation of story, dreadful narration.
