About this listen

Adrian Mole is 34 and three quarters, almost officially middle-aged, when Mr. Blair tells Parliament that Weapons of Mass Destruction can be deployed in 45 minutes and can reach Cyprus. Adrian is worried that he might not get a refund on his holiday. But that's not all that is bothering him. There's his odd girlfriend Marigold who has become distressingly New Age. And his son Glenn who is in Deepcut Barracks. Would Mr. Blair have been quite so keen if it had been his son manning a roadblock?(P)2007 W F Howes Ltd Family Life Genre Fiction Literature & Fiction Fiction Feel-Good Funny Comedy

This book took me back to the time I read and then watched the original Adrian Mole books/TV programmes.... Excellent listen for the summer holidays. but please be careful, I laughed out loud at some of the antics, so be warned don't listen anywhere that if you laugh out loud you'll get into trouble.

Just as good as I remember

The variation to voice male and female with appropriate class characterisation.

Can you believe it?

Any additional comments?

Knowledge of British history of the period would help the enjoyment and several of the topical jokes.

What did you like most about Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction?

I enjoyed the humour and also how the book used actual real events to mark it in time.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the diary aspect and how some comments were short and were left to the imagination while others went into detailed humourous explanations.I also enjoyed the characters although Adrian Mole irritated me lots of times due to his spineless attitude.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The scene I found the most interesting but excrutiating was when Netta Flowers invited Adrian and her family to discuss whether she was to have and open marriage with new partner or cut herself away from Michael.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had lots of different emotions: laughter, anguish and irritation with Adrian Mole for not having a spine.

Larger than life characters you will love or hate.
