Summary

She's practically perfect in every way!

After being nearly killed by both a hired hit man and her former secretary, Agatha Raisin could use some low-key cases. So when Robert Smedley walks through the door of her detective agency, determined to prove that his wife is cheating on him, Raisin Investigations immediately offers to help.

Unfortunately for Agatha, Mabel Smedley appears to be the perfect wife: young, pretty, and a regular volunteer at church. But just as Agatha is ready to give up, Smedley is poisoned with weed killer, leaving Mabel, the prime suspect, to inherit a fortune.

With no one left to pay her, Agatha has to drop the investigation . . . that is, until her old friend Sir Charles Fraith turns up again to rekindle her curiosity in the case.

Praise for the Agatha Raisin series:

'Sharp, witty, hugely intelligent, unfailingly entertaining, delightfully intolerant and oh so magnificently non-PC, M.C. Beaton has created a national treasure' Anne Robinson

'M.C. Beaton's imperfect heroine is an absolute gem' Publishers Weekly

'The Miss Marple-like Raisin is a refreshing, sensible, wonderfully eccentric, thoroughly likeable heroine' Booklist©2005 M.C. Beaton

Agatha still looking for love and still having problems with DCI Wilks who is always fed up with her interference with crime. Still has her detective agency and a Mr Smedley wants to know if his wife is having an affair, but after detecting a bit it looks like who's who is having an affair. Not one for getting beaten even when Smedley is poisoned she carries on to Wilkes dismay and poor Bill Wong playing piggy in the middle.
Brilliantly funny and superbly narrated by Penelope Keith as always.

I love Agatha Raisin and her glorious imperfections. She is the main reason for me these books are so wonderful and I will listen to them more than once. I almost never remember whodunnit but that really isn’t the point-its the journey to get there that I find so enjoyable and Penelope Keith brings the Agatha in my head to life. A fun bit of escapism to the Cotswolds!

Pure enjoyment
