About this listen

War hero and daughter to two Houses, Kira is just beginning to learn how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Agreeing to accompany her father's people back to their homeworld, Kira Forrest prepares for the fight of her life. She's agreed to undertake the Trial of the Broken, a rite of passage every member of her father's House must pass. It offers a path to independence and freedom that is too tempting to deny.

Not everyone welcomes this lost daughter of Roake. There are those who fear what her presence might bring to light. Betrayal stalks the halls of Kira's birthplace-its roots embedded deep in the events that claimed her parent's lives and set her on her current path.

Walking the wire's edge between truth and deception will test the person Kira has become as she separates ally from betrayer. An old enemy has put into motion a plan that could topple the balance of power in the universe. Letting them succeed spells doom - but the price might be more than Kira is willing to pay.

Loved this book and it was a great addition to the series. Can’t wait for the next one. It lost its way slightly during the end of the trial (towards the end of the book), but not enough for me to mark it down more than half a star. It just got a bit muddled for a little bit, and lost the tight storyline it had otherwise. Hopefully not too long until the next release!

4.5 stars - great book

Another one bites the dust, it seems. The second book in the Firebird Chronicles is as strong as the first, unveiling a little bit more of Kira's mystery and adding a touch more romance to her budding situationship with Greydon.

Feels a bit hard to put it down to a few words, because all I can say on this is that it's excellent and I think I'm going to have to pace myself while the series is still incomplete.
Strongly recommended read if you like magic, space opera, and a flawed heroine doing her best to save the world.

Excellent

Wielding a unique story . I haven’t read such clever prose that interlocks the past , present and the future so well . Every page needs you wanting more but begging less deception .

Such clever words

the story seems good, and the performance of the reader is good. BUT it's not very well written sadly, I don't think I will continue this series despite it seeming like a good story, the writing just puts me off

story is good BUT
