About this listen

The fae live among us. And one of them is a serial killer.

I thought this would be a simple profiling case. Just another Jack the Ripper wannabe, prowling London’s streets, searching for easy kills. I was wrong. This killer is fae, and he’s as elusive as smoke on the wind. But I’m an FBI profiler, and it’s my job to track him down.

It doesn’t matter that one of the main suspects - a lethally alluring fae - is trying to seduce me...or kill me, I’m not sure which. I won’t be stopped, not even when panic roils through the streets of London or when the police start to suspect me.

As I close in on the killer, I follow him to a magical shadow realm that’s like nothing I ever expected, where I’m hunted like prey. Fine. Bring it on. I’m an FBI Agent. And it turns out I have magical powers of my own.

A new adult urban fantasy, perfect for fans of Karen Marie Moning and Ilona Andrews.

To be honest, I fell asleep during the first half of this book and didn't really feel the need to go back over it when I woke up. The start is slow and a bit bog standard murder mystery, then I missed a bit due to sleep - but once the heroine hits the Fae world things get much more interesting. The story follows a solid, if simple arc and the narration is good (though the Scottish accents are a little Shrek-like). An enjoyable piece of fiction and I look forward to the second book.

Dark Fae FBI, Book #1
Audiobook 🎧

Length: 8 hrs and 25 mins

FBI Profiler Cassandra Lidel comes to London to assist in a gruesome serial killer case. She's partnered up with Gabriel Stewart, he's very good at at his job. He's also very good looking & is a widow. It's clear at the task force meeting the next morning that she's not wanted in London!😕 Gabriel treats her well though.

She meets a stranger, Rhone, he is built like she imagines how a god would look. Stacked muscles, extremely tall, gorgeous! She sees golden horns on his head sometimes though & he talks very weirdly! He says things to her & about her, that imply she should know more than she does about the murders. Is he the killer or involved somehow? The weirdness of their encounter doesn't stop them from ending up in hot, deep kiss that leaves her shaken by its intensity!😘🔥

This is an enjoyable, urban fantasy murder mystery. It has two possible love interests that both seem to have secrets. The Dark Fae part of the storyline is fascinating. The world building is grim for many & opulent for some. They're brutal!😳 I've downloaded the next book already, I want to know what happens next!🌟🎧

Fantastic book, great narrator. Would highly recommend. I can't wait for the second book to come out on audible

phenomenal

In the first few chapters alone this book oscillates between a gripping and engaging crime style, and the worst sort of overblown bodice-ripper romance. It's extremely disappointing that a potentially good book should be spoiled by such disjointed swings in style (and one of them should be such an offputting style)

Another problem is how jarring it is when English characters use American words and terms rather than the English equivalents. It's obvious that some attempt has been made to include English slang but not enough to prevent obvious Americanism's.

The narrator is quite good - some of her accents need work, but she's better than many narrators of American books in non-American settings.

On the whole, thought, not a book I'd recommend

Disappointing
