About this listen

On an ordinary summer's afternoon, Alice tumbles down a hole - and an extraordinary adventure begins. In a strange world with even stranger characters, she meets a rabbit with a pocket watch, joins a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, and plays croquet with the Queen! Editor reviews

Alice's trip down the rabbit hole, and her run-ins with the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts, persists as an enduring classic of literature. Lewis Carroll's novel has long been a pillar of pop culture, inspiring the 1951 Disney hit and influencing the works of figures as diverse as Salvador Dali, Jefferson Airplane, and Tim Burton. Carroll's whimsy is perfectly matched by the award-winning actress Miriam Margoyles (The Age of Innocence, Babe, Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter films), who brings her trademark depth of characterization and a wonderful loopiness to make this a boisterously fun experience.

If you don’t own this in any of your libraries then I suggest you take a large, moist fish and hasten to slosh it slowly around your own gills. Okay? Okay.

A must own

A long time ago someone suggested to me that I should read this book as an adult. I have at last listened to it and found the book brilliant, surreal! The reading by Miriam Margolyes with all the different voices she used was excellent. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed it as a child or to anyone who feels they may have missed out on this classic of literature!
