Paris, 1942: In the midst of the Nazi Occupation, Annabel Marceau begins stealing from Germans and funnelling money to the French Resistance. But when she takes a pair of valuable bracelets from a high-ranking Nazi officer, she finds herself - and her two young daughters - in the line of fire, with devastating consequences.
Boston, 2018: Colette Marceau, now in her eighties, has spent a lifetime determined to find out what happened to her mother and sister that fateful night. When one of the missing bracelets surfaces at the Boston Diamond Museum, can she finally find the answers - and justice - she has been looking for?

Critic reviews
A rousing historical heist novel . . . about family, unfaltering love, tragic loss, and the choices - good and bad - that become our legacy
This stunning story examines the complexity of morality, and the power that ordinary people have to enact change in the world around them . . . I couldn't turn the pages fast enough
A dazzling diamond of a novel . . . Moving deftly between occupied Paris during WW2 and between Boston and Paris many decades later, Kristin Harmel has a rare ability to touch the heart, and holds the reader in thrilling suspense throughout
Interesting twists and turns .
The only fault is that it felt a little too long . But beautifully read and written .

However the narration most of it was really good and believable the French arts and the American with accent but the 2 characters that had an English accent was awful the English accent made my teeth scream . That stopped me giving it 5 * in all categories.
