Disgusting book, seriously feel like I need a shower after reading this. Interesting social commentary, however.

Pornographic snuff. I need a shower

Incredible writing style and phenomenal performance, feels like Patrick Bateman himself is reading to me

American Psycho is an amazing story, which is hampered at times by the repitition of inane detail of the clothes that people are wearing. This would be understandable on occasion, but this pervades throughout the book.
This is a small nitpick on what is otherwise an absolute classic.
It is worth listening to this book just to hear the absolutely masterful performance by the narrator, he is so believable as Patrick Bateman, it's absolutely incredible.

Masterful performance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but with a big caution attached and only to someone I knew well.

What about Nick Landrum’s performance did you like?

Very laid back and easy to listen to. It must have been a difficult read for him.

Any additional comments?

The book should not be compared to the film. Here the true vacuity of the NYC Yuppie life-style is exposed in all it's boring detail. The constant repetition of what every one is wearing, eating and drinking and the total lack of plot is designed to make sure that you know just how dull and unimportant these people are. The murder and sadistic sex that is laced through the story has to be contrasted with the thoughts and opinions that the other characters have of Patrick Bateman, showing him to be another thoroughly dull drone. The whole is a clever hall of mirrors where nothing is really what it seems to be.
There are some wonderfully funny passages, notably the three or four way telephone restaurant booking sequence, but like the est of the book the tone is of the blackest black.

EXTREMELY ADULT, BUT YOU KNEW THAT...
