I really struggled to finish this book. I’ve been ‘binging’ Simone St James books over the last few weeks and I’ve really enjoyed most of them. However, I was really disappointed by this one. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters or care about what they were trying to do. The narrator also spoke SO SLOWLY!! I had to increase the listening speed (1.65x for most of the book, increased to 2x by the end when I just needed it to be over). So, in summary: frustrating and a little boring. I will still listen to more books from this author, but I think I’ll avoid this narrator in future.

This is a terrible story, which given how much I love two of the authors other titles, is a great pity. There is no real plot to speak of, except for the endless dreary bodice ripping scenes, which are frankly dull. The narration of the book is also dreadful. I love a spooky story which is why I chose this book, and as I said, I really love two of her others, The Book Of Cold Cases being one.
