So I suspended my feedback until I had listened to three books. Sorry but the series is just not engaging. Redeeming points- the plot , characters are interesting, some nice dimensions and world building, and genuinely a couple of engaging chapters. For me the problem is the tense and perspective it’s written in. Also lots of procedural filler which is frankly boring. Feels like it’s an AI summary of a story, not the actual story. Some big moments build up to an expectation of an explosive series of events, then get told in a kind of recap form, past tense. It’s jumbled and not engaging as it pull you out of the present. He has much better books - wayward.. etc
