Bad narration makes this brilliant story hard to listen to, why make female characters whisper?

Brilliant story spoilt by bad narration

I am hooked on this series this one had a new narrator which was a surprise but you get used to it. Did not like background music at certain points. Story was a bit slower to grab your attention however excellent ending. Now onto book 7

book 6 not quite so good

Narration by Burt Reynolds made for difficult listening. He kept mixing up voices of the characters, making you wonder who was supposed to be speaking. He also kept giving different characters a rather poor southern drawl one moment and none the next. Really the producer should have got him to re-record the errors. I've listened to many Michael Connelly books in the Bosch series and previous narrations have been really excellent. The story is as good as any written by Mr Connelly but I wouldn't listen to one narrated by Burt again. Sorry Burt. The occasional background music was also a little too loud at times interspersed with chimes which sounded like my doorbell, rather frustrating as I kept getting up to answer the door. Still, it's a good story and once you get used to Burt, it's worth keeping on till the end.

i can never understand why you change the reader of a series half way through. dick hill in bosh 1 to 5 was ideal for boss. burt reynolds voice is too low and sounds like he is holdinghis teeth in dull drowl!

sound quality poor...I love Burt but I struggled to hear him through most of the book. why is harry bosch book 6 not on audible.uk but is on audible.com ????
