Summary

A fake relationship with a stranger. An office romance with doughnuts and white knights. An addictive arrangement - friends with benefits - fast turns to love.

Jonah Gray is rich, successful, and the most eligible bachelor in the city, according to his mother, at least. But the truth is, despite her efforts to pair him off, he’s fine on his own. All he needs is a date to the Christmas ball.

Sacha Ivanov is a lone wolf, content with the cycle of long days, late nights, and anonymous hook-ups, but when a chance encounter in a broken-down lift brings a gorgeous copper-haired CEO into his life, everything begins to change.

As Christmas fast approaches, a favor for a stranger blooms into something more. He doesn’t do second dates or relationships. But for kind-hearted Jonah, his angel in the city, he might just change his mind.

Angels in the City is a Christmas-themed MM friends-to-lovers, forced-proximity office romance. Expect fraught days, steamy nights, and true love built around festive snacks and Christmas trees.

Story 4.5

This was a quick, sweet, low angst, heartwarming read. I was drawn in on page one by these 2 incredible MCs and their explosive chemisty that was instant. Both characters were great. Jonah is a ray of sunshine that despite being the boss was sweet to everyone. Sacha was an anigma. He came off grumpy but he also had his sweet side. He was always doing stuff for others. He was a new hire at Jonas office. The day they meet. Jonah is headed to his parents party and he gets stuck in an elevator with Sacha. He groans on about his mother not wanting him to come single and Sacha offers to tell them he's his bf. I love fake boyfriend tropes so I was sucked in from the start and I could not stop listening from start to finish. It kept my interest the whole time. Despite this being on the shorter side, this is complete and not at all rushed and the characters and the relationship were well developed. The ony thing I can say negative this is that Sachas hot and cold treatment of Jonas did get a little annoying but I could tell that it was coming from a painful past so it didn't affect my rating that much. Otherwise this would be a 5 star read. I absolutely loved this and would recommend it.

Narrator 5

The narrator had a pleasant reading voice. He did different voices and accents for the characters that suited them all really well. He expressed all the emotions and brought the story to life. It was a very pleasant listening experience.

Great story and great performance

Story: Sacha and Jonah sure make an interesting couple. The story is dynamic and intense, with lots of chemistry and real life issues thrown at them. I liked how they felt the pull to each other and how the great writing pulls the reader in. There is not a one dull moment in the book and it is a really enjoyable experience.
Narration: The performance was good and I liked how the narrator consistently used the accents, which is not always easy. One "but" for me was that the narration felt really rushed at times and I had trouble following the dialogue because of that. Overall though, a good job well done!

A really interesting story

OMG, Sasha and Jonah are AMAZING together. I absolutely adored this story, from the meet-cute in the elevator, to the way they worked across from each other, to the leavings of coffee and pastries. It was adorable, believable, and so so sweet.

Sasha's Russian accent was so endearing, he had me from the start. And I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations between them that seemed to turn into circular references. They weren't just good together, they GOT each other, which was fun and refreshing to read.

I adored this book!!

Audibook was so well done by Dan Calley! Fantastic narration, really got to the emotion of both characters and made me believe.

Loved it!

Angels in the City is a beautiful standalone romance that's a little bit fake-relationship and friends-to-lovers with an office setting thrown into the mixture. Jonah and Sacha meet by chance and concoct a harmless fake-date scheme to get Jonah through a miserable Christmas ball. From that moment on, the two men cannot keep their thoughts, eyes, and hands off each other. The romance that blooms between them is precious and beautiful, and I loved every single moment. I found both main characters to be extremely interesting, and enjoyed watching their transformation.

Dan Calley narrated the audiobook, and oh my, he did a fabulous job. Dan's voice was perfect for both men, and he performed the book with a passion that was delightful to hear.

Beautiful and Gripping

This is a great romance story of two workaholics who work in the same building on the same floor but have never met until they get stuck in the elevator together. The two start chatting it up and hit it off despite how different they are in their personality and upbringing. Jonah Gray is the CEO of his company, but his mother still tries to boss him around and is constantly trying to fix him up on dates. Jonah is fine with being single and just wants to work and focus on making his company a success. Sacha Ivanov is a grump who prefers to keep to himself and does not want any sort of relationships. He does not know why, but he volunteers to be Jonah’s date and pretend boyfriend to his family’s Christmas Ball. The chemistry between these two is through the roof, I thought it was cute how Ivanov kept referring to Jonah as Jonah Gray. Garrett Leigh is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, she creates characters and storylines that are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Her character development is fantastic, as is the way she brought these two characters together and the way their relationship grew and developed, I was rooting for them both even as Sacha tried to fight it and not give in. I enjoyed this beautifully plotted story, it had the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments and steamy romance. Garrett Leigh, thank you for another great story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Dan Calley is the perfect narrator to bring these characters and their story to life. He does an exceptional job covering the roles of all the different characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He has a complete understanding of the characters he portrays, accents and all, and sounds believable in every role he plays. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them into his performance. Dan Calley is a versatile voice artist and an entertaining storyteller. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
