H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale of a polar expedition meeting unspeakable horrors is brought to life in the style of a 1930s radio drama, featuring a large cast of actors, thrilling sound effects, and original music.

I read the original story before listening to this as a form of recapping and summary of the plot - This focuses on the juiciest bits and skips most of the exploration of the haunted city, condensing it all into a nutshell. I would recommend this if you don't like reading Lovecraft's longer tales, it's a solid cornerstone of Cthulhu Mythos worth reading!

If you are a H.P Lovecraft fan, you will love this book. Dark adventures narration is always a joy to listen to and never gets boring from start to finish!

Fun to listen

I really enjoyed 3/4 of this audio production of this excellent story. However the first chapter, which is setting up the story is done as though a radio broadcast and this obnoxious static effect is put over the voices to the point it's almost impossible to hear.

A great story hampered by bad effects

Dark Adventure Radio Theatre is always fun! My only complaint is sometimes the background noise was too loud to actually hear the dialogue!

Great!

This is another wonderful adaption from DRT, but my only complaint is that the audio from the radio transmission is very difficult to hear. I know that this is the point, that the expedition is far away and signal is spotty. But this shouldn’t impact the story. I missed every word that was said for a good 5 minutes.

Other than this, it is highly entertaining.

Good, but has audio issues
