Gwendolyn Goode lives a charmed life.

As owner of an occult shop in downtown Salem, Massachusetts, she's accustomed to all things odd and otherworldly. But when a bloody animal sacrifice is left as a warning outside her place of business, the police seem to think Gwen might be the target of some truly evil-doers. Suddenly, her sunny existence is riddled with danger in the form of crazed pagans, rogue employees, and nefarious henchmen. There's only one man who can protect her until the storm passes...

Graham Graves has no time for witchy nonsense.

Not in his love life and definitely not in his line of work. Despite the ever-present oddities of his hometown, the private investigator and acclaimed police consultant prides himself on staying objective in every case that comes across his desk. That all changes when Gwendolyn—a woman who gets under his skin like no other—finds herself in the crosshairs of dangerous criminals. Graham is determined to make her safe, even if her presence tests his steely resolve. As their mutual dislike sizzles into unexpected attraction… he becomes even more determined to make her something else: His.

Bad Luck Charm is a total standalone romance featuring cameos from a fortune-telling parrot, a modern-day pirate, and a coven of well-meaning octogenarians. With characters that leap out of the book and plenty of spooky twists and turns to keep you guessing. Fans of Johnson's previous Boston Love Story series will adore this blend of heat, humor, and suspense.

This storyline was good and well rounded. Most if the characters are well rounded EXCEPT for the slimeball Graham - hard to believe that this has been through an editorial process and that the main male character meets any acceptable vehicle for exploring relationships, childhood trauma and a position of authority - what a horrible, mysoginistic , overbearing character- noone in their right mind would have any interest in forming a healthy relationship with him- which can only suggest that the author chose to create a trauma backstory for the main female character which is exploited and manipulated throughout…unfortunate as otherwise it would have been a good book . Shame on you author

Was good BUT …….

Engaging and lots of plot twists. only issue is why anyone would call the hero *Graham*. Its like Dennis, Maurice, Stanley or Donald. Just did not suit the hero at all. Also. ugh who in this day and age, unless you're 15, calls their paramore 'Baby'. Its icky. The hero comes across as controlling and that sends up red flags in any relationship.

loved the story, well written but....

I chose the book with the intention of trying something a little different. I didn't think I would connect, but the book captivated me from the first moment. The writing is fluid, the characters are great, the plot is different, and the chemistry between the characters is electrifying. I enjoyed it more than I expected.

I love Julie's writhing 💕

I loved this book, with it's quirky characters sizzling romance scenes and quirky small town vibes can't wait to listen to the next one

Magically Marvellous

Perhaps some of my difficulties was in being a Gwendoline, who hates anything but Gwen and cringes at Gwenny and winces at the full version. I didn't fully engage with any of the characters.

Still on the fence for this series.
