It took me some time to get into book 1 - i wasnt hooked till chapter 14. But book 2 was instant. there were only 2 characters in book 1 that i was drawn to, one died. this book was really about the other one. it was her story. the character deveopment was first class and the way her adventure wove through the book made me root for her survival. the author touched on subjects that most authors bypass. what WOULD you do when there was no longer any water to flush the toilet! and with so little food would you eat food years beyond the use by date. I don't like to guess the end of the story within the first few chapters, and I did know early on what would happen, but there were so many twists and turns I was constantly hoping it would not come to that - and it was such an adventure it didnt spoil the story for me. Roll on bk 3 audio .... I need to know what happens next!!
