Going into this, I was expecting a different tone and a different backstory for the beast, but I really like what they did instead.

I was expecting Beast to be one of the evil queen's monsters/hunters trying to kill Gaston, who, in the original story, was primed to become a system hero; everyone but Belle loved him. However, I like that they kept him completely unlikable.
