A young married novelist was raped and strangled in her high-end home on Beekman Place, Manhattan on the morning of April 10, 1936. With two clues, left behind, a 13" piece of cord that had been used to tie her hands and single horsehair found on her bedspread. At the time at least one of the tabloids disgracefully & unashamedly branded her as being a scarlet woman. It was thanks to Alexander Gettler, a toxicologist, who connected the 2 items that helped to reveal the murderer.
