A no nonsense, honest and at times harrowing account of life at CTCRM and becoming a Royal Marine. I’d recommend this to anyone looking into achieving an elite level mindset or who is interested in finding out what it takes to achieve an elite level mindset. I really enjoyed this audio book from start to finish and Gareth’s insights and lessons throughout.

Not a war story which is great.

Focus is completely on the author’s journey from recruit to being badged. Absolutely loved this.

Becoming a Royal marine is something that is not for me. However, this book was class and I was loving following Gareth Timmins' journey through hardship and adversity. I have learned a lot that I can apply to my own life and hardships.

As for the book itself, it was good enough that I bought the paper copy mid way through so I could have all the lessons in front of me. I enjoyed both narrators, it added to the audio performance significantly. A younger Gareth, going through hell, and an older Gareth looking back to help us through it and add lessons learned.

Thank you for writing this diary, it's inspiring what you've accomplished, and I cannot thank you enough for sharing the lessons you have learned. This book will help me on my journey, and I hope it helps others, whether you are going to become a marine, or are doing some other task in your life. For me, it's my PhD, and even though it's nothing like a green beret (which I have so much more respect for now than I started!) this book can help me with that.

I'm wary the review is getting a bit long, but I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to achieve something difficult or wants to listen to the hardships and efforts of training to earn the prestigious green beret. Thanks Gareth.

I wish when Voice actors are brought on to talk about a military subject, they are briefed on the correct terms. Fortytwo Commando is Four Two Commando, Fortyfive Commando is Four Five Commando and so on. This mistake detracts from what the author is try to say ands lends more credibility to the narrative.
