It's been quite a while since the last DCI Ryan book so I was excited to start listening to this one. This time Ryan's wife, Anna, finds herself accused of the murder of the woman who plagiarised her book.

The investigation is interesting and moves in lots of directions, eventually leading back to events in a previous book. The book title is a little confusing as hardly any of the action takes place there. This series is very character driven and all the regulars are back. I'd say this book is about 50/50 between the investigation and the personal lives of the characters. Really looking forward to book 25 now.

Excellent narration, as always, from Jonathan Keeble.

Louise (James) Ross & Jonathan Keeble; a marriage made in heaven.
Her books are the best I've listened to on Audible, & I've listened to all of them.
The DCI Ryan series is thoughtful, & populated with characters with in-depth backgrounds; so much so, I felt that knew them. THAT is great authorship!
Well done to whoever chose Jonathan Keeble for narration; together with Richard Armitage, he really is the BEST.
He performs individual characters so well, I felt I was listening to full-cast plays. The voices & accents were perfect. His diction is also distinctive (which makes a change - some of the narrators on Audible are appalling).
I pre-ordered Berwick, having listened to all the others, & it was well worth the wait.
Up to your usual excellent standard Louise! *********

Welcome return to DCI Ryan and the team, I love these books every one of the DCI Ryan books are brilliant. Each character is skillfully crafted with warmth and humour and the twist and turns of the story keeps you hooked until the conclusion. Once again I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come along.
