About this listen

I had an ordinary life running a video store…until a ghost crawled out of the TV and gave me powers.

Our retro-tech towns might seem idyllic, yet go beyond the arcades and coffee shops and you'll reach the danger zones roamed by bionic bots. Me? I ran a video store with my cute friend Emiko. She's always been a little different, so I had to look out for her—we usually just watched movies and played games together.

One day, a suspicious pink-haired chick burst into the store, warning me not to watch a tape labeled Property of Steelheart—Do Not Watch! So obviously, I did, and a terrifying ghost crawled out of the screen.

But this isn't a horror movie. That busty ghost gave me powers! Suddenly, those no-go zones weren't so no-go after all. I could roam them freely, and destroy the bots with a mere closing of my fist, crumpling their bionic bodies like paper.

But how could I use my gift when I needed to hide it from that shady agency? And if they knew where the tape was, why hadn't they come for me already? Maybe that pink-haired agent wasn't all she seemed…

great narration and an interesting setup, but it struggles whether it wants to be a comedy or an action story. the slice of life was fun but dragged a bit when the actual plot tried to get going. the powers and setting up the threats was good but the rush of escalations and the fact the MC seems to resist any good ideas was a bit frustrating. worth listening to as I'm sure the series will get up to speed and find it's feet, just be aware it's a slower start.

an interesting premise, well performed
