About this listen

"Emily Ellet offers an unflinching and elegant performance of this audiobook...Ellet's vocal versatility and steady pace capture several characters seamlessly while guiding listeners through budding romance, anxiety attacks, and the steadfast strength of a character who proves herself even at her worst." (AudioFile Magazine)

In Blade of Secrets, the first audiobook in Tricia Levenseller's exciting new YA fantasy duology, a teenage blacksmith with social anxiety is forced to go on the run to protect the world from the most powerful magical sword she's ever made.

Eighteen-year-old Ziva prefers metal to people. She spends her days tucked away in her forge, safe from society and the anxiety it causes her, using her magical gift to craft unique weapons imbued with power.

Then Ziva receives a commission from a powerful warlord, and the result is a sword capable of stealing its victims secrets. A sword that can cut far deeper than the length of its blade. A sword with the strength to topple kingdoms. When Ziva learns of the warlord’s intentions to use the weapon to enslave all the world under her rule, she takes her sister and flees.

Joined by a distractingly handsome mercenary and a young scholar with extensive knowledge of the world’s known magics, Ziva and her sister set out on a quest to keep the sword safe until they can find a worthy wielder or a way to destroy it entirely.

I love Kellyn so darn much. I have no idea how Tricia makes me fall in love every single time but it always happens. That banter and cheeky charm. I’m a sucker for it.

Ziva is a gem that needs to be cherished always. I love how her mind works. I love seeing such a deeply thought out representation of anxiety. It’s so overwhelming and it’s written perfectly.

Temra is so strong, I love her so much.

Petrik was an unexpected joy. I loved the banter between him and Kellyn.

I love the sisterhood, the found family and adventure these characters go on, the world building is amazing, as always. I need the second book immediately.

𝑸𝒖𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝑰 𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒅: “I hate feeling as though I don't fit right in my own skin. As though the anxiety takes up too much space, pushing me aside.”

“I wish I could separate myself from the fear, to learn who I truly am.”

“As for not liking people, that's fine. I don't really like people, either. Maybe we could not like people together.”

“Love is uncomfortable at first. It’s terrifying and exhilarating. But that will pass. It will become easier and something that you need rather than want. And if that doesn’t happen, then you’re with the wrong person.”

loved every second

The narrator is absolutely fantastic, creating a different voice for each character that juts by the voice you could tell who is speaking , great story too , very similar to the Daughter of the pirate king in style.
5/5 for me

Lovely story, great narrator!
