About this listen

Marie is a woman sold into a loveless marriage in a 1700s, second-world France. Under the close tutelage of the esteemed Lady Colette Valand, Marie has sewn a small corner of life for herself in their little town in the country-side. She even manages to find love and companionship in a secret affair with a prostitute, Alice. But Lady Colette has a few secrets of her own, and they all come to light on one fateful night when their bodies and futures are forever changed by a mysterious tin of tea leaves.

Dive back into the vampire lore first brought to you by Beneath the Bloody Aurora with this sapphic companion novella, and experience the turn that started it all.

A sapphic Vampire spicy romance? Yes please!
I listened to this novella on Audible, and I've added the other books in this series to my TBR. It was fun, dark and very spicy, while also covering topics of importance such as domestic violence. And the forbidden love trope didnt hurt.

I loved the setting, 1700s france, and it fit the story well. The character of Genevive was really interesting, but I wish we found out more about her. Alice and Marie's love was beautiful, and Colettes yearning for Marie was Heartbreaking.

I think the ending was a bit rushed, with colette running out and just leaving the others to it, and maybe a bit dramatic although I understand where she is coming from. Her insults were sharp, but she regretted it afterwards.

Overall, a lovely read, and what seems to be a perfect introduction to the rest of the series!

Sweet'n'spicy 🔥🔥
