In the lands of Deyadrum, where every Fae possesses power, Princess Emma is the only one forced without. Confined in the walls of her palace by her father, she's desperate for a taste of freedom.

That is, until she discovers the truth: everything she thought she knew was a lie, for something evil plagues her lands-promising death and darkness.

A betrothal that tests her. A mysterious vigilante who teases her. A Dark Prince who doesn't trust her. And a phantom that invades her dreams.

Emma must try to escape her father's torturous grip as she journeys to find a way to save her people . . . and herself.

But Emma has dark secrets of her own. And a game she has to play.

Can she overcome her grief and fears to save her people before the darkness that lurks within consumes her? Just remember, even that which appears true may be deceiving.

Contains mature themes.

Loved the world building, characters, plot and turns. I can’t believe no one else has written a review yet. This book is very good.

The story is compelling and I really enjoyed it. However the fact that the female narrator is lowering her voice to the point it’s inaudible every time she makes the male voices (and sometimes with female voices as well) ruins the flow of the story, leaving me to constantly having to adjust the volume and skip back to catch what she said. I really hope that changes for the next book, because I really want to continue with the series 🤞

Good story, narration could be better

the text feels like it's written or bolstered by AI with multiple contrasting details, and very repetitive internal monologues. The main character is very inconsistent, one day she wants to help on deck and gets mad when she's told to go below during a storm, and later she acknowledges she doesn't know what helm is and is happy to go below bc she doesn't know anything to do with sailing.
Would not recommend unless repetitive emotional despair is your jam.
fyi spice is 2 out of 5, extremely slow burn

inconsistent and repetitive

Not a great listen for me. I found the female characters to be weak and accepting until having a sudden and unbelievable transformation to something with a bit of backbone. The paragraph upon paragraph of angst, pain, sorrow and desperation from the MFC just went on too long for me. Just too much wordage & introspective reflection - and repetitive at that. It went on to such an extent (with no story development) that I just wanted it to end. I got it, the baddies were really bad. The female lead had a really bad life full of pain, and woe and suffering. But it went on and on and on and on..... I skipped a lot and ended up not really giving a damn about the outcome.

Overworked & overly indulgent.
