About this listen

The powerful and exhilarating third novel in Conn Iggulden’s No. 1 bestselling Conqueror series, following the life and adventures of the mighty Genghis Khan

As well as discovering new territories, exacting tribute from conquered peoples, laying waste the cities which resist, this policy is also a way of diffusing the rivalries between his sons and heirs and working out who should succeed the khan.

This, the third book in the Conqueror series, is once more an epic story. Genghis Khan is an exhilarating and heroic figure. The sense of his ambition and his power, the relationships with his wives, sons and trusted aides, the sweep of his conquests, is all brought together by a masterful storytelling. It is a compelling read. With each book, you are left, even more, longing for the next.

The narrator and the way he carried the story made the words come to life. The movement through the landscape and the introduction of different cultures kept my interest as well as the strength of familiar characters.

Great story teller

This audio book starts well and is a good listen until the extremely disappointing ending, not having read the book I don?t know if this is the Author or what appears to be more likely the terrible hash made by the editing to make this an abridged version. It is a great story if you dont mind the missing detail and a ending which leaves you thinking that you have missed a chapter.

Good but not that good

this should never have been abridged. The abridged version of the book misses out far too much important detail and leaves a lot of questions remaining. For example the relationship with Genghis's shaman is completely omitted. My advice is: a book well worth listening to, but not this abridged version, unless you are in a hurry to find out what happens!!!

excellent, but.....
