This is the worst book ive ever listened to. There was no story no point to it what so ever. I love his books normally but he must have been having a off day when he wrote this I couldn't get into it at all.

I hugely enjoyed this collection of Ketchum's essays. He details his one meeting with the author Henry Miller, his troubled relationship with a childhood friend, his first great, tragic love and his feelings, as a Manhattan resident, following the 9/11 attacks. Of particular note to longtime readers of Ketchum's fiction is the third essay about Jen, Ketchum's great lost lover and the quixotic soul who was the inspiration for characters in two of his novels - Hide and Seek and The Lost. It's apparent that he never quite got over her.

I thought the reading by Thomas M. Hatting was pitched perfectly, catching the wistful, elegiac tones of Ketchum's prose and also the more earthy, and prosaic notes in his writing. Recommended for those who admire Ketchum's novels and want to learn a little more about the man himself, straight from the horse's mouth.
