Claire Peterson was born into an abusive, toxic family. Unwanted by her mother, wanted by her father in ways she could never imagine. She lives on a farm surrounded by pigs and assorted other animals and a lake used by fishermen regularly. Because of this, she is also taunted and bullied at school by the other kids. Until new neighbours move in just down the road; an opportunity to finally be loved and accepted by a real friend.
But her luck isn’t going to change here, either.
She soon outstays her welcome and once more is alone again in the world. But then Claire suffers an accident; falling down the stairs and suffering concussion. From now on, something in Claire changes. The way she sees the world and decides no one is going to ignore her again.
No surprises then, she became a serial killer at just 18-years-old. But it’s what she did as a 7-year-old that shocked the world.

Omg this series is just the most soul grabbing series I’ve ever read! Once you start you’re sucked in & tied until you finish. Hands down one of my favs!!
Claire hasn’t had the most easy upbringing, living on a farm with an abusive drunk of a mother & a child molesting father she isn’t shown love, just evil acts & being told she’s not wanted.
When she comes across a loving family down the street they show her how a family should be, they feed her and tell her she’s always welcome. Well Claire takes this literal & soon enough when a new baby is welcomed they don’t have the time for her anymore & stop answering the door.
Claire obviously isn’t happy about this & takes matters into her own hands…the baby needs to go 🫣 and from there on out it’s a battle of who wants who dead….
Omg this was UNREAL!! I can honestly say I have never felt so torn with a main character before! Claire was vile BUT she was also brought up surrounded by evil & hate, the point being made that is a monster born or bred?
Absolutely amazing Justin, both myself & my partner read this back to back & he is as equally as obsessed with this series as me now! He has said that so far this series has been his fav to read & he can’t wait for the rest to come out on audible!
