Summary
M/M scenes
When Casey's long term boyfriend suddenly locks him out of the house, he thinks his world has ended. Who would have known after everything they'd been through together, Father McDermott, a Catholic priest he has secretly been dating, would do something like that to him?
Then he meets Hunter, a slightly older, slow-talking, smart but simple country boy who takes him in and teaches Casey to believe in himself, what true love is, and how to please a real man in bed (or on his knees).
If you are a fan of Always by Kindle Alexander, The Backup Boyfriend by River Jaymes, Broken Pieces, Stay, or Collide by Riley Hart, or any of the Dreamspinner Press books, you'll enjoy this short novel.

The narrator does a great job with the characters and voices of each character which makes it easy to distinguish between the characters.
I definitely recommend this book.
Great M/M romance !

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

on to the story side of things...
I liked that even though it was a short story, it still wasn't insta-love. They built up a friendship before anything happened.
I was raised Catholic & the story line about the priest getting a GF & acting all superior at the reunion class was unrealistic... he'd be excommunicated & wouldn't be welcome at the school either.
Sadly, the bigotry towards gay people in catholic circles was all too real...
I liked both Casey & Hunter, but I was NOT a fan of the "My Fair Lady" subplot to the story... in truth Casey at that moment became just as bad as the priest & he used a paper-thin excuse for telling Hunter that he wasn't good enough as he was & that he needed to improve...
I wasn't a fan of the 80-90s "transformation" scenes & this felt exactly like that... I like you, but I need to put you on the pretty mold so others can see what I see 😬
That (sadly) frankly spoiled my enjoyment of the story...
But I've gotta say... I'll overlook the lack of condoms 😒, but no prep & nothing at all used as lube & he crammed it in in one go & supposedly he was hung like a 🐴?!? I know they went straight to A&E because... ouchy 😬🥴
Honestly Casey lived too much for appearances' sakes & how other people perceived him/them, which is never a good thing! You do you boo & don't mind the nosey Parkers...
Oh & I know it was a novella, but it did need an epilogue... about how Casey was living it up as a Michelin chef, they got married, had kids & more animals or something like that...
a cute story
